Off-piste mecca

Kittelfjäll is a winter sport area in the municipality of Vilhelmina. Here you’ll find one of Sweden’s toughest off-piste areas with 42 slopes, 37 of which are unpisted, in a varied environment of forests and colouirs. Next door we have the summits of Marsfjället (1589 m) ant Kittelfjället, reaching 1,225 m asl.

Stefan “Crossen” Lundin

Not many people will be as familiar with Kittelfjäll as Stefan. During his career, he’s gained experience and respect for skiing in demanding terrain and conditions. Stefan is a certified mountain leader (as mandated by Fjällsäkerhetsrådet, the Swedish Mountain Safety Council), and a certified avalanche expert (Canadian Avalanche Association ITP Level 2), certified AvSAR PSA (Avalanche Search and Rescue Advanced Skills) and a qualified SVELAV avalanche instructor.

Stefan is a part of the mountain rescue team, and works as the area representative for the Southern Lappland Mountains for Naturvårdsverket’s avalanche forecast agency. He also works as a ski guide and conducts avalanche courses for the public and organisations. Stefan has guided Kittelfjäll for more than 20 years (ski touring) and way back he competed in snowboard freeriding, racking up a gold in the national championships from the early 2000s. Today he’s based in Kittelfjäll (Henriksfjäll).
